In motion, in restraint, in the little details: a website should do more than just inform. As a creative developer, I aim to hold attention, stir memory, and leave something behind through my work.
I'm Jake Skillington, an Irish creative developer based in Hampshire with a background in psychology.
I design around emotion.
It's never really about a website.
It's about what a good one signals.
People decide whether you're credible in about half a second, mostly on how things look. A site that feels considered wins that judgement for you, before a single word is read.
Choosing you should feel safe, not like a gamble. Warmth, restraint, and the sense that someone genuinely cared are the cues that turn a maybe into a yes.
Think of the last gig or comedy night you loved. You won't remember the setlist or the punchlines, only how it made you feel. A website is no different, and that feeling is what people repeat to a friend.
